Activities

The local area

There is something for everyone just a few minutes drive from Le Fond du Bois. Let us know what interests you and we’ll help you find the perfect activities! Here are some ideas.

Markets and night markets

Our local towns of Fleurance and Lectoure both have excellent weekly markets throughout the year.

Try aerial yoga

A walk through the forest (or a five-minute drive) will take you to Château de Goas, where you’ll find a Pilates and aerial yoga studio.

Art and culture

L’Abbaye de Flaran is a 20-minute drive away. Take a tour of the abbey and browse the impressive Simonow Collection.

Many local villages are worth a visit, each with their own charms. Some highlights include La Romieu, Lectoure and Auch, our nearest large town. The local tourist office has a website with up-to-date events and activities: https://www.tourisme-gers.com

Hiking and biking

Once you have explored La Fôret de Sérilhac, the woodland that surrounds us here, there are countless walking and cycling routes to explore locally. We are close to the Chemin du Puy (also known as the GR65) of the Camino de Santiago – the network of pilgrimage trails that span western Europe, all leading to Santiago de Compostela in the northwest from Spain. Walking from Lectoure to La Romieu along this path is a great day’s walk.

Water parks and lakes

For water lovers, there are several water parks and swimming lakes nearby. Castréra Verduzan (25 minutes by car) has a sandy beach, slides and inflatables during the summer holidays.

The water parks are in Gondrin (35 minutes) and Nérac (50 minutes).

Day trips

Now the possibilities are truly endless! A day trip might take you two hours south to the Pyrenees, two hours northwest to Bordeaux, or an hour and a half to Toulouse.

But you might not want to leave at all!

Ici, au fond du bois, il est facile de passer quelques jours paresseux et sentir la chute de stress. You will have devoted companions in our dogs, Suzie and Philippe, and most days the peace is only disturbed by the occasional noises of our chickens and wild birds. Relax in the swimming pool, read a book, walk through the gardens and the forest and breathe in the cleanest air in Europe.
